The project is to set up and equip the multidisciplinary The Centre for Expertise in Arctic Design and the related research and regional development. Additionally the practices for cooperation with the regional companies and other actors are developed and international networking strengthened and the effectiveness of the operations estimated. From the point of view of the University of Lapland, Faculty of Art and Design, the aim is to renew and refocus the research activities, and models so that they better serve the region and its economic life. AMOK is part of a larger Arctic and northern multidisciplinary research excellence concentration and science, art, and business parks on the exploratory stage. AMOK project supports the theme of the Arctic specialization program (2013), ‘Arctic innovations for new businesses’ and ‘the cross-cutting Arctic training, research and development program.
